: I am an American currently applying for French nationality and want to be a more comfortable French speaker. My father is French but he hasn’t spoken to me in French since I was quite young. I took French in high school 20 years ago and have a good foundation in grammar. I can read at a high level and can generally understand slowed-down French podcasts but I haven’t had true practice conversing in a long time and lack confidence speaking or writing spontaneously.
